Adhesives should always be considered as a fabrication option in light and heavy engineering because of substantial reduction in assembly cost and improvement in performance, which they make possible with traditional as well as new materials. A discussion of some of the barriers to more rapid introduction of adhesives technology into industry together with the requirements to overcome them.
