In India small scale industries are being encouraged by Government. Small enterpreneurs are not aware of pollutional hazards. Unforeseen pollutional hazards are encountered, when industrial areas are not properly located or when there is an absence or inadequate pollution control system. On receiving public complaints, quick and efficient remedial measures are required, which may include suitable modification of the processes or abatement methods. The paper presents a study of abatement of chlorine gas pollution and its control in a small-scale industry. Chlorine gas concentration was 899- mu g/m**3 but after the suggested control measures it was totally absent as estimated at various points in the affected residential area. Low cost material like locally available slated lime, lime slurry and activated carbon were used as absorbent material.
