The Fujiwara method was used to investigate the block structure of optical corundum crystals of different orientation, grown in the form of plates by the Verneuil, Czochralski and Kyropoulos methods. There is no block structure with any orientation for crystals grown by the Kyropoulos method. This is explained by the low values of the temperature gradients in the crystallization and annealing zones.
