Experiments on the influence of vibrations of the free surface and interface of a stratified liquid on the dynamics of bubbles subjected to vibrations

An experimental method and appropriate apparatus are described for investigating the influence of low-frequency vibrations of the free surface and interface of two immiscible liquids of different densities on the dynamical behavior of a test gas bubble. The objective of the experiment was to confirm several theoretical conclusions on gas bubble behavior. The apparatus consisted of two vibration sources which made it possible to apply a combination action of two different vibrations to the test vessel. Medium-frequency vibrations ensured the presence of the liquid levels at which the buoyant force acting on the bubble was equal to the vibrational force. The secondary lowfrequency vibrations were used to excite the free surface and the interface. Quantitative results of one of the experiments for water and kerosene are summarized.
