The permissible maximum deviations given in the Polish standards lead to different interpretations of these quantities. The elevator shafts in apartment houses have heights significantly exceeding the 10 m given in the standards for which maximum deviations have been determined. Based on the valid standards for the building industry and on designs of building systems, the authors establish an interpretation of the given elevator shaft assembly tolerances.
