Takagi Chemical Inc, Japan has recently developed a new flexible material consisting of polyethylene terephthalate monofilaments curled during the processing stage. The monofilaments are glued together at contact points by an elastomeric adhesive. Named Curl Lock, this material has a feel of vegetable horsehair and can be used in automobile seats, heat- and sound-insulation, filtration media, etc. Refs.
