Pleased with the success it has achieved with its first longwall installation, Emery Mining Corp has decided to install two more longwalls. Illustrating Emery's success is the Aug. 13 production figure achieved at its Deer Creek mine in Huntington, Utah: 14,699 tons from a single longwall mining unit in a 24-hr period. This feat occurred only 10 weeks after the shearer began its first trip across a 480-ft-long face. Details of the company's longwall mining method and equipment are given.
