This paper analyzes the relative importance of weather elements on potential evapotranspiration (PET) and presents a methodology requiring a minimum of data, providing for simplicity of computation and presenting a good fit of lysimeter evapotranspiration measurements for a wide range of climatic conditions. Crop coefficients used together with PET provide for the estimation of irrigation requirements and for irrigation scheduling.
