We present the results of studies of contact interaction of mated cylinders of similar radii with account for thermal deformations. Construction of successive approximations in the contact angle makes it possible to account for the influence of thermal deformations both on the size of the contact region and on the magnitude and nature of the contact pressure distribution. The influence of thermal deformations on the magnitude of the contact pressure is analyzed for various values of the compressing force and the sliding velocity. The numerical calculations showed that the first approximation satisfactorily describes the influence of thermoelastic deformations on the contact interaction. We study the critical 'wedging' case, when as a result of thermal deformations the formation of a second contact region takes place.
