Arkla Energy Resources, which has actively used a SCADA system since 1971, was faced with the task of replacing field and office equipment to meet current needs. In the first part of this article, the author describes the older system. The needs for a new SCADA facility and the steps taken to determine and specify the equipment needed are then discussed.
