Collection of atmospheric aerosols and their analysis by total reflection X-ray fluorescence

Low Z-TXRF was applied for the analysis of marine aerosol taken with a five stage Batelle-type impactor during a measuring campaign aboard the Belgian research vessel 'R/V Belgica' off shore the North Sea coast of Belgium in November 1997. Direct collection of the atmospheric particles onto TXRF sample carriers was performed. Results were obtained after optimization of the internal standardization procedure and re-calibration of the instrument.
