A new method of measurement is presented. The method is valid for trigonal, tetragonal, hexagonal and cubic crystals. All important electrooptical materials belong to these crystal systems. Crystal cuts are calculated. These crystal cuts make it possible to calculate the electrooptic coefficients as functions of maximum phase swing of the light wave and of maximum electric field strength in the microwave resonator. It is shown how to determine the electrooptical coefficients by microwave and optical measurements.
