摘要
During the formation of fibers from polymer melts and solutions, the liquids pass into and out of small capillaries contained in the spinnerettes. Because these polymeric materials are viscoelastic, significant, unique and fascinating effects occur at the ends of the capillaries: excessive pressure drop, die swell, and melt fracture. These effects are discussed in this review paper. Three types of polymer melts flow are discussed by means of mathematical techniques - (1) viscous flow with inertial effects dominant; (2) very slow (creeping) viscous flow; and (3) viscoelastic flow.
