Computer room air conditioning has been the focus of numerous debates and discussions. Published articles in the recent past have presented debates over underfloor versus overhead air distribution and over the types of air conditioning systems that should be selected for data centers. The intent of this article, however, is not to downplay the importance of a quality air conditioning system for a computer room. A well designed air conditioning system for a data center is vital to avoid needless computer downtime, which can inflict severe losses on the owner.
