A risk-based integrity management program (IMP) and an integrated records management system (RMS), using geographical information system (GIS) technology, have been implemented on the Bolivia-Cuiabá pipeline. GOB/GOM selected VECO Canada Ltd. to provide an integrity management solution based on a dynamic software component, PipeCraft™. Using GIS technology, the user can view their pipeline in its cultural and environmental context and perform spatial queries to develop risk-based IMPs. The GIS software has a risk assessment module that determines the consequence of failure considering the environmental and cultural layers.
