Between 1980 and 1985 the All-Union Scientific Research Institute for Electrothermal Equipment (VNIIETO) in conjunction with manufacturing enterprises carried out a set of scientific research and development projects aimed at improving tubular electric heaters. The result has been significant increases in the average working lifetime and specific capacity of heaters per unit of heat-delivering surface; the diameter has been reduced with the capacity of the tubular electric heaters (TEH) with a resultant significant reduction in the specific consumption of materials. Production of tubular electric heaters with improved protection against explosion has been mastered; this will make it possible to begin industrial production of explosion-proof space heaters.
