摘要：

The friction and wear behavior of gold against gold was investigated with newly developed equipment in which a polycrystalline gold roller of 50 mm diam glides over the surface of a gold single crystal. Wear rate, and width and depth of the friction track were determined, as well as shape, size, and distribution of the loosened surface particles. The mechanism of wear is explained in terms of fatigue and adhesion processes at the surface.
