This paper gives a rigorous method-of-moments (MoM) solution to the problem of determining the resonant frequencies and associated quality factors of inhomogeneous dielectric bodies of revolution (BORs)working with axially symmetric TM modes. The body of interest may be placed in an arbitrarily stratified dielectric medium. The case when the environment is bounded by one or two horizontal perfect electric conductor (PEC) plates is also included. The general electric-field integral equation (EFIE) is given in the convenient mixed-potential form. The EFIE specialization for sample geometry is solved numerically with the use of specially constructed basis functions. Finally, calculation results are given and compared to other solutions. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
