A mechanism of trapping and entrainment of electromagnetic (EM) field pulses into supercritical regions of an inhomogeneous plasma by ion-acoustic waves is considered. The paper considers EM field states entrained by ion-acoustic waves into dense plasma layers. The efficiency of the excitation of the entrained EM field states by EM radiation of the given frequency incident on plasma is determined. The life-time and the depth of the entrained EM field penetration into dense plasma layers are found. The possibility of the EM field to penetrate into dense plasma layers with the concentration several times higher than that in the region of the turning point of the radiation incident on plasma is shown.
