The move away from centralized plant providing both space and process heat has not lessened industry's demand for process steam. Many factories continue to run large steam boilers, requiring levels of control which only a microprocessor-based system can provide. This article reviews steam plant control philosophy and presents a case study at British Chrome & Chemicals Ltd's Eaglescliffe works.
