Raman spectra of alkaline metal doped polyacetylene are investigated at each stage of doping level for (CHNa//y)//x with y equals 0 approximately 0. 16. Several stages in doping are recognized in the change of Raman spectra. Raman and EPR spectra of alkaline metal doped beta -carotene are also studied as a model compound of polyacetylene. The correlation of these spectra together with the ab initio SCF MO calculation on the model compound, C//1//2H//1//4Li//2, showed that the structure of the heavily alkaline metal doped polyacetylene chain is composed of the array of the charged soliton type and the uniform type structures alternately in series.
