To combat Bangkok's evergrowing need for more water, the new water transmission tunnel system aims to fulfill the city's requirements until the year 2,000. The primary distribution system consists of 25 km of pressure tunnel of 3. 4 m to 2. 0 m finished diameter, 125 km of pipework trunk mains and a secondary distribution network of 490 km of pipework. The article discusses the geology of the area in which the system is being built, the precast concrete lining rings being used, and details of the casting yard.
