Activities of zinc in liquid Zn-Sb alloys containing 10 to 90 at. % Zn were determined by the emf method between the liquidus temperature and 660 degree C. Strongly temperature dependent anomalies observed in the thermodynamic functions are explained by the existence of Zn//4Sb//3 compound clusters in the melt. With increasing temperature the clusters dissociate and the anomalies disappear. The effects of compound cluster formation in liquid alloys on thermodynamic properties are discussed.
