Commercially pure 99. 5% Al was permanent mold, continuous, and strip cast to determine the effect of casting method on the texture of the billets or strip produced. Emphasis was on the continuous casting process, in which both the mold shape and the method of pouring were varied. In coarse-grained material, textures were determined by laser goniometer and in fine grained material by x-ray goniometer. The results show a close relation between casting structure and texture. The pouring method exerts the strongest effect on texture, and grain refining additions cause gray texture. 22 refs.
