The scan-beam synthetic aperture radar (SCANSAR) was proposed to solve the problem that SAR is constrained to a narrow swath by ambiguity limitation. This paper mainly engaged in SCANSAR imaging. SCANSAR operation principle, signal structure, signal parameters and data format are studied carefully before imaging processing is taken into consideration. Signal processing includes the block data imaging algorithm and the subimages mosaicing algorithm. In block data imaging, two kinds of azimuth algorithms, spectrum analysis algorithm and time domain-frequency domain hybrid algorithm, are discussed. In subimages mosaicing, time relation is utilized to clip the subimages and combine them sequentially. Computer simulation, which includes reformatting SEASAT raw data to SCANSAR data, processing block data and combining the subimages to a whole image, verifies the proposed signal format and imaging algorithm.
