In this paper, analysis of the absorption process is done for the simplified cooling surface geometry of a vertical flat plate instead of tube bundles in real machines. The flow of the absorbent is assumed to be laminar and fully developed. At the film surface, the concentration and the temperature must satisfy the relationship at a saturated state, and the released heat from the absorbed vapor is carried away by the film. The governing equations are solved by the finite difference method and the profile method. Near the entrance region, the calculated temperature profiles have small difference, but this disappears rapidly when flowing down the plate. The average concentrations show good agreement.
