During prototype testing phase, leakage occurred at the knit line causing seepage of blood or IV solution from the tube. This situation was unacceptable and had to be corrected quickly to meet the product development schedule. Details of prototype testing are outlined. In addition, a discussion is presented of how various solutions were arrived at.
