摘要
Mini steel mills are tailor-made metallurgical plants constructed for a limited market in order to save transport costs involved in delivering the steel products to customers. They are intended to supply their own market only. As the steelworks are usually in the form of electric steel-making plant with the appropriate continuous casting plant, the location is also dependent upon the availability of an adequate, reasonably cheap electricity supply. A high degree of automation, low personnel requirements and a minimum in administration costs are further characteristics of a mini mill.
