Programmable controllers (PC) and their related devices have evolved into the most flexible solutions to control and automation problems. The range of traditional applications for programmable controllers is far wider than that of any other form of automation technology. New uses for PCs are being demonstrated and evaluated, particularly as major components of computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) strategies. This author presents the magazine's annual overview and reference to programmable controller specifications.
