In process of coal carbonization, by-products are formed including the coal tar. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are evolved from coal tar pitch. They are widely utilized in chemical and pharmaceutical industries. However, many polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are ecologically hazardous. This should be taken into account during cleaning the waste waters. In connection with this, it is necessary to determine solubility of the hydrocarbons in water. Procedure of determining the solubility in water has been described. Mathematical model of the solubility has been used. Regularities in variation of the solubility have been determined.
