COMPUTERISED RECORD SYSTEM.

A computerized record system flexible enough to cater for the management requirements of a Street Lighting Department and the changing maintenance methods and frequencies is considered. The following functions are to be recorded: provide a comprehensive inventory for all street lights and illuminated signs: determine energ accounts; produce planned maintenance schedules (a) inspection and cleaning, (b) bulk lamp change, (c) painting programme; provide for day-to-day maintenance job sheets; jobs costing; estimating of maintenance allocation; produce schedule for nightly inspection reports; technical assessment of control gear, laterns, etc. ; lamp failure analysis; any other statistical information. The provision of these functions requires a comprehensive database that contains all the information relating to an individual street light or sign position.
