ON THE ROOM ACOUSTIC DESIGN OF LISTENING ROOMS.

Two factors were considered in the design of a room intended for monitoring audio equipment, to wit, the arrangement of acoustic material on the walls, and the correlation of subjective impression and acoustic characteristics accomplished through impulse-response measurement of the early reflections from the walls. It was found that for monitoring and evaluating audio equipment, it is necessary to absorb early reflections from the walls; however, early reflections are needed to fully enjoy music.
