Reference is made to modifications to the existing structures and utilities, as well as the construction and installation of additional buildings and systems of a water treatment facility's control system. To control the new filtration process, a distributed process controller (DPC) that utilizes a number of local intelligent controllers coordinated through a data highway was selected. The electrical portion of this project is described. The job was divided into three parts: installation of the DPC cabinets and the raceway for the control system cables; installation and termination of the optical fiber and coaxial cables that make up the data highway; and the installation and termination of the multipair, shielded control cables that provide the interconnects between the field devices and the individual DPCs.
