High temperature hot ductility of the 08Kh18N10T steel and its electroslag welded joint

The 08Kh18N10T steel is widely used by the ATOMMASH Industrial corporation for the NPP pieces bottoms manufacture. Investigation results have been presented, which include hot ductility of the above steel and its welded joints made by the electroslag welding. Samples were tested for rapture within the 1050-700°C temperature range. For this steel and its welded joints dependence of reduction of area on temperature as well as fracture structure have been given. It has been shown that at 950-100° welded joint hot ductility is 3 times lower as compared to the basic metal. but at 700°C it increases by 3 times. So bottoms are recommended to be manufactured of 08Kh18N10T steel at 700-750°C.
