Using as example, the Parkim-Elmar 225 IR grid Spectrophotometer, the p5 precise determination of the eigen polarization of the combination of an imperfect polarizer and a monochromator by measuring the transmission lobs in demonstrated. The method is universal and applicable to the UV region as well as to Fourier spectroscopy or to reflection spectroscopy. 13 refs.
