The stereo configurations of the ordinary dislocations in the γ-phase in a Ti-48Al alloy after deformation at 800°C were analyzed by developing an accurate method for the stereo analysis on structure features in TEM. It was found that the ordinary dislocations with b=(1/2)〈110] always appear as three-dimensional curves which do not lie in single planes. The segments on these dislocations were found to lie either near (111) planes or near (112) planes. Based on the results obtained, the mechanism for the formation of helical ordinary dislocations was proposed.
