A recently introduced IC operational amplifier is said to achieve the best noise performance ever for a monolithic linear circuit, both in the audio range and in operation at typical instrumentation low frequencies. It provides 80 nV peak-to-peak noise in the 0. 1 to 10Hz band, 3 nv/(Hz)** one-half audio frequency noise, 17V/ mu sec slew rate, gain bandwidth product of 63 MHz (gain of 6300 at 10kHz), 10 mu V offset voltage, 0. 2 mu V/ degree C and 0. 2 mu V/month drift with temperature and time, voltage gain of two million, 126db power supply and common mode rejection. Applications as phonograph preamplifier, output buffer, and tape preamplifier are discussed.
