European standardization of rendering and plastering mortar

The work on a European standard for rendering and plastering mortar has now been in progress for almost 10 years. The first draft standard was published in Germany and elsewhere in April 1993 with the number EN 998, Part 1. In the following six-month appeal period the European countries lodged more than 200 material objections. The deliberations have been in progress again since then. When can a final European rendering and plastering mortar standard be expected? The BDM (Federal Association of German Mortar Industries) has attended the standardization work from the start. It would like to use the following article to keep the manufacturers of the mortars and of the starting materials informed of the current state of affairs.
