Based on the refractive law, a formula to calculate the optical parallel error of a prism for any large incident angle was given, and consequently a new method of using large incident angle to measure the angle error of plane optical element was put forward. Some examples were discussed. The effect of the error of incident angle on the measurement accuracy, as well as the principle for choosing incident angle, were analyzed. Some valuable conclusions were shown.
