Single crystals of the Cd//1// minus //xCu//xCr//2Se//4 system (x equals 0. 04, 0. 07, 0. 14) were grown by spontaneous crystallization from a molten solution in cadmium chloride. The single-phase nature of the spinels obtained in this way was established by x-ray diffraction to within 2. 5%. The temperature dependences of the paramagnetic susceptibility, magnetization, and electrical resistivity were determined for all compositions. Results are discussed.
