Armoured Sheet Piles - New Design for the Protection of Banks of Waterways and Inland Ports.

The development of navigation towards larger vessels and changed shapes, especially in the case of pushed tows, has led to increased strains on the bank sheet pilings. Damage to the sheet piling sections, mostly undulating, therefore requires constant protective measures. The examination of various possibilities led to the development of solutions which are technically and economically more suitable, using what is known as ″armoured sheet piling″ . The author describes the forms of construction, depending upon the type of sheet piling, and reports on their performances.
