Proceedings includes 114 papers presented at the Interamerican Conference on Materials Technology covering a wide range of problems and recent findings in the field of materials science; five of these papers were presented previously at the 3rd Interamerican Conference. Topics cover materials properties and structure processing of materials (including fracture and failure analysis, high-temperature deformation, electrochemical phenomena, corrosion and corrosion protection, electronic, ionic, and atomic phenomena, metal fabrication, defects and transformation, less common fabrication techniques, mechanical processing, heat treatment, strain aging, extractive metallurgy, production, properties, and uses of composites); housing and building materials; materials for energy and transportation systems; materials application in the petroleum and petrochemical industry; and impact of materials technology on economic development.
