Applications of West German Food Legislation to Packaging Made of Paper, Paperboards and Corrugated Cardboard.

The food legislative situation for papers, carton boards and fiber-boards for the purpose of food packaging is being interpreted on the basis of German Food Law. Furthermore, the paper defines the meaning of the ″Recommendations of the Plastics Committee″ , the composition of the recommendation for papers, carton boards and fiberboards included in them and how the responsibility for the safety of packaging material must be understood. Though as yet the harmonizing of regulations for food packages within the EC has not progressed beyond a General Directive, important points of view for the formulation of future individual rules can be derived for special packaging materials. These points are explained in detail.
