Analysis of flexible manufacturing equipment for rotational workpieces. An analysis of 21 flexible manufacturing cells and systems - FMC and FMS - for the metal cutting production of rotational workpieces is presented. The objectives of this investigation were to survey the industrial application and to identify typical manufacturing tasks and design concepts. The specifications of such characteristic fundamental types' of FMC and FMS can improve the quality and efficiency of future planning projects.
