摘要
Big improvements in the properties of concrete can be achieved by using polymers. The main categories recognized by the American Concrete Institute are these: Polymer-impregnated concrete (PIC) 'a hydrated portland cement concrete which has been impregnated with a monomer and is subsequently polymerized in situ'; Polymer concrete (PC) 'a composite material formed by polymerizing a monomer and aggregate mixture. The polymerized monomer acts as a binder for the aggregate'; Polymer-portland cement concrete (PPCC) 'a premixed material in which either a monomer or polymer is added to a fresh concrete mixture in a liquid, powdery or dispersed phase, and subsequently allowed to cure, and if needed, polymerized in place'.
