Certain problems connected with feasibility testing and planning for the introduction of process computers for monitoring and controlling gas supply networks are discussed. In an effort to facilitate the reaching of a decision regarding the advisability of acquiring a computer for this purpose the range of problems that can be solved by a process computer is delimited, the required hardware and software equipment is described, and the choice of process computer systems is discussed.
