Some recent advances that have been achieved both at home and abroad in the field of infrared antireflection coatings are summarized. Two kinds of method for designing and depositing broadband infrared antireflection coatings are introduced, namely the same optical thickness and the different optical thickness of coating layers, and the latter is more promising in future progress. New materials for infrared antireflection coating, mainly the diamond-like carbon and germanium carbide(GexC1-x) as well as their applications are also expounded.
