Results of a Technological Research on Single-Fired Wall Tiles.

Most of the ceramic raw materials available in Europe were studied and tested during this research. The research for the development of a satisfactory body to be used for the production of single-fired tiles was carried out bearing in mind the technological suitability of the materials and the economical convenience to produce such bodies as compared with the traditional wall tile bodies. Satisfactory results were obtained with bodies made of plastic clays, china clays, quartz and alkaline earth compounds. Detailed results of the body compositions and their properties are given.
