摘要
Attempts were made to decrease the consumption of energy in iron melting practices. When working with divided blast or oxygen additions to the cupola blast, a decrease of the coke consumption can be achieved. This also results in an increase of the melting rate. Instead of a reduction of the coke charge, the effect can be taken out in the form of a higher metal temperature. An increased carbon pick-up can be expected. Compared with the divided blast, oxygen addition gives higher flexibility. A comparison is made between two methods of adding oxygen to the blast has been made. An economic calculation shows that the highest yearly cost savings can be obtained with the divided blast.
