As a result of the investigations one of the electrolyte compositions presented can be recommended for the production of a copper-manganese alloy containing up to 20% of manganese. Deposits with satisfactory quality (finely crystalline structure, pink to light-brown) were obtained for all the solutions at current densities up to 1. 2 multiplied by (times) 10** minus **2 A/m**2. Compared with a single-layer coating with copper, coatings with copper-managanese alloys possess greater hardness and higher adhesion to metals and, particularly, to alloy steels of the 38KhMYuYa and E1474 types. The coating is characterized by elasticity, withstands deep drawing, expansion, and bending, polishes well, tins, and solder. Tests on nickel-plated samples with a sublayer of copper-manganese 10-12 mu thick for moisture resistance and resistance to the action of a sea fog showed that the coating has better corrosion properties than a coating with a sublayer of copper.
